GLCA New Writers Award Winners for 2013 Contest
The Great Lakes Colleges Association is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 GLCA New Writers Award for fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. Now in its 44th year, the New Writers Award confers recognition on promising writers who have published a first volume in one of the three genres. Winning writers receive invitations to visit GLCA member colleges, where they give readings, meet and talk about writing with students and faculty members.
The 2013 winner for fiction is Ismet Prcic (ISS-met PER-sick), Shards, a novel, published by Black Cat, an imprint of Grove/Atlantic.
The 2013 winner for poetry is Rowan Ricardo Phillips, The Ground, published by Farrar Straus Giroux .
The 2013 winner for creative non-fiction is Benjamin Busch, Dust to Dust: A Memoir, published by Ecco, an imprint of Harper Collins.
