I have created a small rapid prototyping set-up to aid my development of large-scale public art. However, this current set-up forces me into a limited computer-based workflow it is missing the physical interaction with material that leads to inspiration from a tactile response to materials and the physical process of making art. The goal of this proposal is to close the three-dimensional physical-to-digital loop allowing me to organically switch between the digital and physical worlds. I want to be able to take physical material such as found-objects, clay, paper or virtually any thing and scan it into the digital realm where I will be able to manipulate and combine forms. Then I can take these models and choose between digital display or physical output in a range of materials. Such a studio requires the addition of a three-dimensional scanning station.
