For many years now, I have been seeking ways to integrate the newest drawing and drafting technology into my own work in scenic and lighting design. The primary advantage of this project is to step up in a different skill set to work on the highest levels level as a designer. A secondary advantage includes being able to explore artistic and educational exchanges with colleagues in other disciplines, And finally, this will offer pedagogical innovation for my stagecraft courses. I will be able to build on the hand drawing and drafting that I already do with the students, and combine more sophisticated thinking with deeper application in theatre design. Products include the next show that I design, an original adaptation of seven ancient Greek plays, which I will do in Vectorworks, to be performed in February of 2014. Additionally, I will incorporate this new knowledge into that pedagogy. Finally, I will be able to use my growing skills to apply for work I would not now be qualified for.
