"The Uncanny Valley: Documenting Where Real Meets Represented" is a significant departure from my career as a painter into creative writing, performance and installation art. The "uncanny valley" is a term attributed to the phenomenon that causes people to respond negatively to human representations that look and act about 96% human but not more or less. I’ll explore popular trends for self-improvement that attempt to alter or optimize human potential through practices that unwittingly broach the threshold of the "uncanny valley." To become acquainted with creative writing, performance and installation, I’ll enroll in a summer intensive course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by a period research and development of new work based on the "uncanny valley."
