We seek funds from the GLCA "Grand Challenge" grant to strengthen the pathways and capabilities for collaboration between Wooster and Denison. We seek to "challenge borders" by strengthening faculty and staff capabilities to recast migration as mobility and movement. We hope to learn about this issue in a faculty college that could take the form of the GLCA Summer Institutes. The initial speaker series we are curating, the faculty college and subsequent efforts led by four key faculty at Denison and Wooster will support the production of interdisciplinary knowledge products on mobility and movement. By inviting a wide variety of GLCA/GLAA participants to the faculty college, we will focus attention on alternative narratives of migration as "mobility and movement". This proposal is for the first phase of a multi-year project.
