Oberlin College (OH) has received a $925,000 grant to increase the energy efficiency of six of its residential halls. The award is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant: Local Governments and State Energy Program. The college will retrofit the dormitories with new windows, thermostatic radiator controls and more efficient steam traps.
The award, part of a $10.7 million grant to 14 institutions of higher education and Ohio state government organizations, is intended to raise energy efficiency and provide cost-effective energy alternatives for Ohioans, as well as to promote awareness of environmental issues.
